Marketing Your Business with Facebook (Pt. 2)
The first thing you should recognize is that a business page is different from a personal profile on Facebook. Think of a business page as your business’ online personality in Facebook’s virtual community. It takes the name of your business and has a more professional feel to it. Even if you never post anything inappropriate on your personal account, the two should always remain separate.
Advantages of Making a Facebook Business Page
Business to Consumer interaction
One of the biggest benefits of a Facebook page is the comment feature. It allows the community to comment on a post and get a quick response from the company. Inquiries about products and services that the company offers can be made in the comment section. This shows potential customers your commitment to customer service!
It’s also a great source of fast feedback from the market. Valuable information that can potentially be used to redevelop or remarket products can originate from the comments that are made on your page.
Social Credibility
Most people are wary of smaller companies because there’s no assurance of quality and legitimacy. This is a problem that most new companies (including Gandy Labs) experience and business marketing is usually the normal means of generating the credibility you need to become more successful. People associate familiarity with credibility.
Let’s take you for example. If you don’t know a company, but you find out that it’s popular with a lot of other people, you’re likely to instantly have a better opinion of it. The same concept applies with Facebook pages. A new company with a lot of fans, friends, and likes will look more credible to consumers than one with only a website. This is especially true if the buyer sees a lot of interaction between other consumers and the business through the comments section we keep mentioning.
Your Facebook page can also be used to “like” and associate yourself with other more popular brands. When you “like” another page it appears on your “wall” and visitors will see it. Associating your profile with professional pages will generate better credibility for your brand.
Page-to-Personal Profile Switching
One great option that Facebook allows its users is page-to-personal profile switching. This is a great way for your followers to know that there is a real person handling the Facebook page. It’s often much easier for people to talk to a real person than a company (business profile) so replying to comments with your personal profile will probably result in better interaction.
